The mission of eChristianEd is to provide a quality program of instruction for volunteer and professional church staff who desire to serve the church with excellence in educational ministries.

History

• 2001 – The Council on Ministries of the S.C. Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church and the Columbia College Department of Religion and Philosophy collaborated to provide affordable and accessible training for youth ministers, Christian educators, church school teachers and others. eChristianEd was born.

   

• 2002 – The first courses were offered in South Carolina.

   

• 2003 – eChristianEd expanded its curriculum to include children’s and family ministries.

   

• 2004 – The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of The United Methodist Church approved the program as meeting the academic requirements for para-professional certification (non-degree) in Christian education. eChristianEd was offered beyond South Carolina.
